This means that all kinds of charities belong to this group, but also the organizations looking to fight for the rights of disempowered people. According to the Forbes, YMCA of the USA has received over 1.2 billion dollars in private donations. The Young Men's Christian Association as its official name is, was founded in mid-19th century and has become of the most important non-profit organizations in the world. It has been shaping America’s youth for more than 150 years, but this nonprofit also operates abroad. In fact, there aren’t many places in the world where YMCA is not helping the young people by setting fitness facilities, funding scholarships, etc.

Here’s another charity organization with a long tradition. Same as YMCA, the Salvation Army was also founded by a religious organization. In 1865, the members of Protestant Church in London founded this organization. In fact, the Task Force for Global Health was responsible for combating various tropical diseases by providing vaccines and improving public health informatics in more than 150 different countries.

The charity organization which received the largest donations in 2016 was United Way Worldwide. The non-profit organization has the headquarters in Alexandria, a city in US state of Virginia. The organization is proud of its 130-years-long history, during which it did a lot to improve the income, health, and education of people from all over the world.
Last year, the organization received $3.708 billion in private donations. Apart from the United States, the organization is also active in more than 25 other countries, including France and New Zealand, whose branches proved to be very active in the recent couple of years.
